 Dr. Nikolaos Metaxotos was born in Athens, Greece. He studied medicine at the University of Athens and qualified in 1992. He was trained in plastic surgery in Athens and at the Charing Cross Hospital in London.
He is board certified by the Hellenic Board of Plastic Surgery and the European Boards of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery (EBOPRAS), a high qualification recognised in all European countries. In 2005, following six years of research in skin melanoma, he was awarded a Ph.D. from the Medical School of the University of Athens.
His main interest in cosmetic surgery is facial surgery, including facelift and blepharoplasty. At the 2004 American Meeting of Aesthetic Surgery, he presented a paper on the minimal access face lift (MACS Facelift), a new face lift with minimal incisions and quick recovery, which was very well received by the American plastic surgeons. Dr Metaxotos has been using the MACS Facelift technique for almost three years now, since it was first applied, with impressive results. Dr Metaxotos is also interested in breast aesthetic surgery. This led him to a research on less postoperative pain after breast surgery. He gave several talks on that in international meetings, in USA and Europe. On his own initiative, he visited several internationally known clinics for aesthetic surgery in Europe and in the USA and has worked with some of the most respective plastic surgeons in the world. He has published several scientific articles on plastic reconstructive surgery in English and European journals of plastic surgery and has lectured in many parts of the world including Europe, USA and Mexico. He is a member of the Hellenic Surgical Society, Hellenic Society of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery, European Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery, International Society of Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery, the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine and the International Society of Burn Injuries.
Nikolaos Metaxotos is married to Helen Hajioannou and they have two children.
